ramsac achieves ‘Outstanding Company’ rating in the Best Companies Awards 2019

We are thrilled to announce ramsac has been awarded a two-star rating from the Best Companies Award 2019 which give us a ranking of ‘Outstanding Company’, we also ranked in the top 75 best companies to work for in the South East. What makes this award so special is it is purely based on the opinion of our employees all of whom were anonymously surveyed to give their opinion of ramsac and what it is like working here. The leadership team at ramsac work tirelessly to ensure ramsac is a special place to work. I sat down with Rob May, ramsac’s MD to find out what he thinks make ramsac a unique place to work.

How does ramsac support their employees on a personal level?

Rob May: “We know that no one leaves home life at the door – we work hard to ensure that people come to work feeling valued and supported – we operate a flexible approach to working hours, enabling people to fit around childcare or elderly care arrangements. We also provide social events, health and wellbeing events (having arranged things like deskside physio, health assessments, discounted gym memberships etc), supporting colleagues private fundraising initiatives, organising teams to run or cycle at charity events, and regularly rewarding people with Amazon gift vouchers when they do something that we think deserve a little extra thanks! Another initiative we are proud to support is the ‘Time to Change’ employer pledge, we are committed to supporting colleagues’ mental health. We run regular workshops around stress and anxiety, we promote open conversation about mental health, we have 6 Mental Health Champions who are available to colleagues to discuss general wellbeing and to run wellbeing activities.”

How does ramsac help employees outside of normal career training?

Rob May: “The ramsac business school is a pioneering training programme, open to all staff, which aims to provide positive personal development and help individuals to learn more about themselves. Developed in house, this 12-month programme covers various aspects of business leadership, personal awareness and strategy, but more than that it focuses on understanding human behaviour and its practical application in business and leadership. It’s a real journey of self-discovery, with a strong focus on developing bonds within the cohort”

What do you think makes ramsac’s apprentice scheme special?

Rob May: “We passionately believe in providing young people with a career break into the technical industry and we work closely with local training and education providers to promote STEM careers and apprenticeships in particular. In order to ensure we provide a career, not just a job, we have developed a bespoke 5 year training programme, that lays out clearly on day one of an apprentice’s employment, what they would need to do to progress from the most junior member of the technical team, to one of the most senior. We are really excited about this and feel we are fairly unique in the SME sector, for having such a clear technical career path allowing our employees to make the transition from apprentice through IT support to a technical network consultant.”

What do you think makes ramsac special?

Rob May: “Our commitment to people is not just a tick box exercise, we genuinely believe that making the workplace the happiest we possibly can, providing great career opportunities, being really clear about our culture and our values, providing flexible working practices and taking care of one another, make this far more than just a place to work, it makes it a family.”
